I don't read to escape, but to live my life more fully.

Currently reading

Purgatorio
Dante Alighieri, Robert M. Durling

Just so everyone's aware, I'm completing a slow process of shifting to here from Goodreads.  I honestly probably won't be using this much until there is an app and possibly a way to set yearly reading goals, because those are two of the things I use most on Goodreads.  I'd like to switch since Amazon bought Goodreads, but...I like those features :)

Anna Karenina (Everyman's Library)

Anna Karenina (Everyman's Library Classics, #58) - Leo Tolstoy, John Bayley, Louise Maude, Aylmer Maude I liked it well enough when I started, but just got really bored in Book 2 and couldnt make it through. Sorry, Tolstoy!

Where She Went

Where She Went - Gayle Forman Amazing. Lived up to the first one. I absolutely loved the lyrics at the chapter starts. They captured every emotion of Adam's perfectly and I find myself really wanting to listen to the album. The raw emotion of this book was incredible. Again, I didn't know what to expect for an outcome until it happened, and I think I could have bee satisfied with any number of outcomes, because Forman's writing makes you feel everything her characters are feeling and live their choices. Amazing. I'm excited I have another of her books next in my lineup.

If I Stay

If I Stay - Gayle Forman let me just collect my heart from the floor....I'll just say that I never had an idea of how this would end until the last page. I didn't even know what I wanted to happen--I was as torn as Mia. When Kim said "you still have a family" I think I was completely emotionally destroyed.Read this book. Just do it.

The Unbearable Book Club for Unsinkable Girls

The Unbearable Book Club for Unsinkable Girls - Julie Schumacher I was very thrown off throughout by the fact that Adriennes dialogue wasn't always quoted. sometimes her internal narrative would end in a question and a few lines later I would realize that she had asked that question aloud to another character. Very confusing. But I ended up being pretty intrigued by the story. I also felt a lack of closure on a few plot points...

Shades of London (2) - Ripper 2

The Madness Underneath - Maureen Johnson !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE THING.MAUREEN WHAT ARE YOU DOING.

The Art of Fielding: A Novel

The Art of Fielding: A Novel - Chad Harbach definitely lived up to expectations!

The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements

The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements - Sam Kean THREE YEARS LATER, I have finished this book! It was great! It took me awhile to get into it, but the stories get better and better as you get further in the book and I am so glad I kept with it. Learned a bunch more random facts about the elements and actually put all of my science/chemistry knowledge into a much better context!

By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept

By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept - Paulo Coelho Didn't hold my attention at all. I loved The Alchemist, but this one just seemed to aloof for me from the start. I had to abandon it.

Death Cloud (Sherlock Holmes: the Legend Begins)

Death Cloud (Sherlock Holmes: The Legend Begins, #1) - Andrew Lane I connect a lot with young Sherlock Holmes...I'll be reading the rest of this series!

Virals

Virals - Kathy Reichs weird, but good and funny. I love nerdy sassy teenagers!

Divergent

Divergent - Veronica Roth um. what. yes.

The Diviners

The Diviners - Libba Bray Terrified and can't wait to read the next one. Soooo good.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children - Ransom Riggs I loved the found pictures creating the story. It was tragic and exciting...however I feel most of the true content and plot will be found in subsequent books.

Rebecca (Virago Modern Classics)

Rebecca - Daphne du Maurier, Sally Beauman Wow. There were so many plot twists in this book that my head was spinning. And the ending....just wow.

The Sequel

The Sequel - John Green I so desperately want John to finish this book. Now. I can't stop thinking about it, and it was only 15 pages!
